Luke 19:36-38, RSV –An Entry for Palm Sunday

Published by cherylannenelson at 11:27 am under Christian Thoughts Edit This

And as he rode [into Jerusalem), they spread their garments on the road. As he was now drawing near, at the descent of the Mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoice and praise God with a loud voice for all the mighty works that they had seen, saying, “Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the Lord! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!” (Luke 19:36-38, RSV)

What man/woman alive is as great as our Lord?  None that I know of.  None that I can imagine.  Today I thank God for the gift we received in the sending of his son.  I try to visualize what it must have been like to take that ride before his many believers who threw down their clothing and palm branches for him into a place also mixed with hatred.  The courage and the strength his father instilled upon him to enter into a place where he knew he would face his adversaries was infinite.  Still he went foward to spread the word of our Father and to win more souls.  Mere days later he would willingly put himself on the cross to save us from our sins.  He died for me.  He died for you.  In him we will find life eternal.  Through Christ alone I find my strength.  Thank you Lord for giving me so much and taking so little in return.
